Our Approach

What We Believe

We believe that every human can grow their well being, cultivate a meaningful life, and contribute to the world. We believe that there is goodness, beauty, and incredible value at the core of every individual, and that we all have the capacity to grow.

Though life brings great challenges, we believe life is beautiful, that beauty can chase away the darkness, and that each of us needs the support of a wider community to thrive.

We believe the space we offer is one of positive growth and meaningful change.  We are here to help you pursue wellness. Our approach is collaborative and holistic, guided by empirically-validated treatments that work.
Engage a qualified psychologist, therapist, or coach to help you overcome a challenge, process a traumatic event, or to assist your breakthroughs and stability as you pursue meaningful goals.

Our Methodology

We use a variety of evidence-based modalities at Santa Rosa Psychotherapy. Effective techniques primarily include Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), as well as Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, and attachment-based therapy.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy works on the premise that our emotions and thoughts affect our behavior, and that our behavior affects our lives. Work with an experience psychotherapist to strengthen your self-awareness, shifting thoughts and behaviors. Through CBT you'll work to identify unhelpful or misleading thoughts and replace them with healthier and more accurate ideas. This is the process of cultivating meaningful change in thought and action.

Depending on your goals and readiness, you will leave a session with some  steps to take to impact your daily life. Some clients call this "homework" or think of it as a way they can maximize the value of the session by actively using what is discussed immediately to affect change. If you are highly motivated to see improvements in your situation, let your provider know you're on board for take-home action steps.

Completion of Therapy

Each person's duration of therapy depends on their goals and progress and you will partner with your provider to decide when therapy ends. If for any reason your provider feels they are unable to help you move forward or meet needs as they emerge in the course of working together, we will explain the change and refer you to another clinician who may better help you. You likewise have the right to terminate treatment at any time. If you choose to do so, we will offer to provide you with names of other qualified professionals whose services you might prefer.

Most often, therapy concludes because you have successfully addressed the issue or situation that prompted the therapeutic relationship. We will neither rush you to conclude prematurely, or artificially extend treatment when you have succeeded in your goals.

If you would like help anticipating the amount of treatment necessary, Contact Us for a free, confidential consultation where we can help you assess your goals.
